Laurie Posner, September 7.

Halflife

This is not another poem about how swallows

pause in the gap

between downpours

Or whether love chunks off like a glacier

an ice floe

or radium in an eighth

a quarter and half and half and half of that

always left and

never leaving

This is not a poem about cleaving

or a cleft but what becomes of those places where our bones

woke and left the lean tent

of our skin

Laurie Posner lives in Oakland, California and works in San Francisco on equity, environmental access and sustainability.
